Day 3 (Oct 18)
We managed to get up at a reasonable time, packed everything up, checked out and headed over to IHOP to experience some “amazing” eats. Right off the bat, the service was a little… off.
Kim – “What kind of tea do you have?”
Waitress – “Oh just regular tea.”
Kim – *confused look*
Kim – “Is that English Breakfast, or Earl Grey?”
Waitress – “Like Lipton… ya know… Regular tea.”
Kim – “I’ll have orange juice, please.”
But the food eventually came and it was, indeed, quite good. Well mine was delicious… Kim’s was “alright”. She had the French Toast. I had the Blueberry Crepes, Danish-style. It was very yummy.
Anyways, we finished breakfast and headed out.
The scenery was fantastic! We stopped many times this day to take some pictures.
We also happened to spot this.
Awesome.
We drove through the Redwood National Park and saw some rather large trees.
We also saw this most amazing event.
We also saw the ocean, Kim for the first time, actually. It was super foggy though, so it was sort of a bittersweet situation. It was cool, though, and Kim’s going to see the ocean in all of its none-foggy glory soon enough.
To end the night off, we decided to stay in San Rafael, right outside of San Francisco. We couldn’t find any motels/hotels we preferred to stay in, so we just settled for a Motel 6. That was a pretty bad idea. It was totally one of those motels you see in movies like Bottle Rocket or shows like My Name Is Earl and Breaking Bad. I was half-expecting a shootout to occur at some point.
But really, we weren’t very happy with a couple things. One, the bathroom light didn’t work; we had to drag a lamp in there just to brush our teeth. And the other thing that sucked was the strange, lingering smell. It was kind of a damp and moldy smell. It really made the night enjoyable.
But oh well. Thoughts of Disneyland got us through!
